The lady is a tramp
So I went hiking. It was great. With 12 people from both hemispheres we went around the South Island of New Zealand for ten days. Hiking in New Zealand is not for the faint-hearted.
I am the one with the orange sleeves standing in the middle of Woolshed Creek, which we crossed a dozen times or so on this particular hike. In fact, if you arrive back home with dry feet after going hiking - which the Kiwi's call ' tramping'- it is probable that something has not gone quite the way it is supposed to. Either you have not been crossing creeks and rivers or it has not been raining. Both are highly unlikely when tramping. However, the wet feet are well worth it because you get to see stuff like this:
Or this:
With many thanks to colleague tramper Sascha who let me copy some of his pictures because my camera stopped working after two days into the hike. I have bought a new one, so a selection pictures from the rest of my trip will be added after my return to Vanuatu on Saturday. Amongst which a picture of me riding a horse on a Kiwi farm. But that is for later. Right now I am off to sit in some thermal pools in a place called Roturoa.
